Under Project Nyaay Setu, a Nukkad Natak and Door-to-Door Sensitisation campaign was organised on 18/04/2026 with the objective of creating widespread awareness regarding labour rights, bonded labour, child labour, workplace exploitation, and access to legal remedies. The intervention was conducted to sensitise community members about the rights and protections guaranteed to workers under labour welfare laws and to promote awareness regarding issues such as forced labour, wage exploitation, unsafe working conditions, denial of basic entitlements, trafficking, and economic coercion. The programme aimed to encourage community participation, strengthen legal awareness at the grassroots level, and facilitate early identification of disputes requiring intervention. As part of the awareness drive, a Nukkad Natak was performed at Block Chowk, Kanke, to engage the local community through interactive storytelling and socially relevant themes. The street play highlighted various forms of labour exploitation, including non-payment of wages, bonded labour practices, hazardous child labour, excessive working hours, lack of access to education, and denial of humane working conditions. Through relatable characters and real-life situations, the performance sought to sensitise workers and families about their constitutional and legal rights, the importance of education for children, and the need to report exploitative practices. The Nukkad Natak successfully drew the attention of local residents and initiated meaningful conversations on dignity of labour, social justice, and collective responsibility towards vulnerable sections of society.Simultaneously, a structured door-to-door questionnaire survey was conducted to identify and cull out disputes at the pre-litigation stage that could potentially be referred for mediation and legal assistance. During household interactions, the team collected information regarding labour-related grievances, wage disputes, instances of exploitation, family conflicts arising out of economic distress, unsafe employment conditions, and concerns relating to child labour and bonded labour practices. Community members were informed about the availability of mediation mechanisms and institutional support under Project Nyaay Setu for amicable dispute resolution and legal guidance. The outreach activity also created an opportunity for direct engagement with vulnerable individuals and families who otherwise may not have access to legal awareness or formal grievance redressal systems. By combining community sensitisation with dispute identification and early intervention strategies, the programme aimed to strengthen access to justice, prevent escalation of disputes, and promote a more informed and rights-aware community. The intervention reflected the broader objective of Project Nyaay Setu in fostering legal empowerment, social inclusion, and protection of labour rights at the grassroots level.
