From the Desk of Vice-Chancellor

Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R Patil

Vice-Chancellor

Labour rights are fundamental to a just and equitable society. In today’s rapidly changing economic landscape, conversations on workers’ rights, workplace dignity, social security, and labour welfare are more important than ever.

The establishment of the Centre for Labour Law and Research (CCLR) at NUSRL reflects a commitment to promoting research, legal awareness, and meaningful dialogue in labour law. Through initiatives like “Shram Chetna,” the Centre aims to bridge the gap between legal frameworks and public understanding.

As employment patterns evolve with technology, globalization, and the gig economy, it is essential that workers’ rights evolve alongside them. I appreciate the Centre’s efforts in fostering awareness and informed discussions on contemporary labour issues, and I wish it continued success in advancing knowledge, dialogue, and social justice.
